| back in china. it's very nice to see the family. this time, the gap between seeing my family was a lot smaller than last time, a quarter versus 9 months. anyway, my connecting flight in china got delayed by about an hour and other than that, it was a good flight from seattle. i don't think much is planned for the next 2 weeks. just relax and maybe do some light skiing, we'll see. i'm thinking i'll get some dvds and catch up on movies.
so i order a few gadgets and other stuff before i leave. NONE of them arrived before i left. so, i check the status of the orders and my razr arrived today (er friday). let's say amazon is not good with phone orders. it took from 11/11 to 12/16 for the goods to arrive, wow. although, in that process, i saved on shipping and 20% off the phone. it's pretty bad though, i'd gladly trade that in for getting my phone 3 weeks ago. anyway, i check the status of my order at dell and apparently, the t7 i ordered is arriving early next week. the thing was supposed to be backordered until january. and what do you know? it's going to arrive before i'm back. lol, a letter i'm waiting for should be there this week and a jacket i ordered for my parents' friend is getting there. what the heck is going on? the holidays... wow, i can't get anything before i need it.
well, hopefully, i will see a lot of my friends before the new year. i get back on the 30th so hoopefully, good times ahead. happy birthday to nimisha and mary who turns 21 on sunday? go have fun and don't do anything too dangerous.
i will be having a lot of free time in the next 2 weeks so more updates later.
| so i've seen 2 movies this week: fantastic 4 and red eye. i also saw the god of gamblers 2 again, but i won't count that.
the fantastic 4 was well, fantastic. it was a pretty good movie and jessica alba, wow. although among the four, if i could have powers, being able to fly and light things on fire, that's pretty damn cool.
red eye is worth seeing simply for rachel mcadams. however, i most definitely would have wanted my money back had i seen the movie in the theatre. 8 bucks for 73 minutes is not good enough. what the heck kind of movie runs 73 minutes these days? isn't there a standard of 90 minutes or something? can anyone think of a shorter movie in recent memory? don't get me wrong, i enjoyed the movie. the plot wasn't great, the action was predictable, the story could have been extended, and the acting could have been better. but all in all, there's rachel mcadams, so all is good. but yeah... i just wanted to rant about the movie being 73 minutes long and it's including intros and a bit of the credits. so, unless my dvd player was lying to me, the movie was too damn short.
next movie to watch, the jacket, featuring the lovely keira knightley. as i was buying dvds today, there was a very hot poster of keira knightley on the wall. i almost asked the lady to take it down and sell it to me, but decided that might be a bit awkward. oh yeah, adrian brody is also in the jacket. he is a pretty good actor, considering he got an oscar from the pianist. i'm still looking for the wedding crashers dvd. that movie is a riot. a must see. anyone recommend any other new movies to watch?
| you come to cherish some things when you don't have it, cable television, specifically, the USA channel. so my mom and i are sitting at home, waiting for the US Open to start and what do you know? they show women's doubles, the chinese, of course. normally, i wouldn't mind this so much except for the fact that this was a taped delay and a live agassi/blake match was going on. i mean, come on. it turns out that my parents bought 24 international channels or something, including hbo, espn, etc. but you know what, USA is not that common a channel outside the states, so therefore, we're relegated to watching tennis on CTV, china tv. as it turns out, this might have been one of the greatest tennis matches in a very long time. i haven't seen the match but i read about it. agassi over blake in 5 sets. agassi down 2 sets to love and a break. agassi also down a break and blake serving for the match in the 5th set. needless to say, he overcame it all and ended up winning 8-6 in the fifth set tiebreak. now, that's a tennis match for you fans and nonfans. jack, i'm going to wait for that tape from you because this match sounds way too good to miss. so it all comes down to the semis now. i'm thinking federer should beat nalbandian and agassi should dispatch ginepri, who's played 3 straight 5 setters. that's gotta take a toll on the body. so, what does it come down to? an federer/agassi final, what a final that would be. the best player in the world against one of the best of all time. i am very much looking forward to this match on sunday. i hope anyone close to a tv will be watching because you will be in for a treat!
as for china, it's been a lot of fun, mainly eating. the other day, i had 4 meals. i'm not sure that's so healthy as for the most part of the summer, i got along on 2... it's kind of cool to wake up early in the morning and actually eat breakfast. what's not good is having a "mcdonald's snack" at 4 in the afternoon. i got to play tennis yesterday so that was pretty cool. other than that, i've watched a couple of movies and other good stuff on tv. we're going to go to harbin tomorrow to visit my grandparents, other relatives, and friends. i'm hoping i'll get a chance to exercise- basketball, tennis, badminton, bowling, swimming. heck, all of them might be in the plans. it should be fun. unfortunately, we're only there for 2 days, so we'll see. all in all, it's been a lot of fun just hanging out with my family. but a part of me is wishing for school to start. the apartment is awesome. everyone should come check it out one time or another. anyway, more later. watch tennis people.
| david just had a revelation, an epiphany if you will. i'm going into my 3rd year of college. what happened to the last two years? i don't really know. it's gone by in a blur. what's scary is this: classes, studying for either mcat or dat, work, and much more. what happened to the studious kid that use to get grades? i don't think college has brought out the best in me so far. that being said, it is time to crunch down and work hard, get through this third year and pass with flying colors. that's the goal, just have to make it a reality.
so this summer has pretty much sucked. i took classes and worked, so the schedule was essentially, class, work, sleep, class, work, sleep, get it? the house situation worked out pretty well. in case you didn't know, i subletted a place and am/was living in a house with 6 guys. five of them, myself included, i liked. only one guy that annoyed me. the kid is annoying to say the least, it's one of those people that you would want to punch just for the fun of it. wait, was that too mean? too bad, it's the truth. anyway, i'm excited to be moving to an apartment the first of september. the house was fun, but i'll be looking forward to living with my friends.
for the next couple of days, i basically have to work, pack, move, and get ready to flight off to china until the 26th. it's going to be a fun trip, just hanging out with the family and visiting some relatives. a month of nothingness is going to be heavenly, sleeping in, eating good food, and in good company. yeah, that's life. no more of this work and school business. oh yeah, summer school officially blows. i think i've learned my lesson and have come to the conclusion that this will be my first and last year of taking summer school. if you can help it, don't take summer classes. it's so hard to focus and there are so many better things to do, unless you are taking a class with a LOT of friends.

yeah, that's my fall quarter schedule. it's looking pretty damn good except for wednesday. i'm going to fill in the gaps by working, but all in all, i am excited for the new school year. it's always fun to be around friends and whatnot. summer can have its highs but i think there are more lows. it was pretty boring, let's just say.
well, that's a quick entry. just thought i'd share a little. oh yes, if anyone is interested in going to the utah jazz vs. seattle sonics basketball game at key arena, let me know. i think it would be fun if we got a big group to go, plus there's a group discount, yeah! also, with a large group, you people can console one another after my jazz destroy the sonics. =) well, hopefully the jazz don't blow it like last year at the key... it was a traumatic experience for me, needless to say. well, i'm hoping for better this year.
| so i guess the big news today is that ray allen resigned with the sonics. guess what people? the sonics are still not going to make the playoffs next year. my utah jazz are going to have a better record than the sonics and destroy the lucky sonics, lucky that they had a good year and made the playoffs. it's wishful thinking to think the sonics can repeat what they did last year. some of you might be thinking, well... the jazz suck. there, my friends, is where you are all wrong. the jazz had a good start last season and things fell part when AK got hurt. throw in the fact that boozer also got hurt, harpring i think did too, and AK at the end, it made for a woeful season. oh yeah, they didn't have a point guard either. now, with a fully healthy team AND a point guard in deron williams, the jazz are going to be good for ages. we've locked down the starting 5 for the next 4, 5 years and we are going to rock. explain to me how the sonics are going to matchup against williams, harpring, kirilenko, boozer, and okur. heck, one of them might not even start because i think we still need a true shooting guard. you may think ray allen is good, but how good will he be when he has the AK47 down his throat, eh? season series, jazz sweep. but to be on the safe side, 3-1. last year was a fluke and you all know it. now, in about 9 months, i'm going to be a richer man when the jazz have a better record than the sonics. hope you all enjoyed last year because it's going to be awhile before the sonics are back in the playoffs. gosh, i hate the sonics. man, i love the jazz. | | |
